In this tutorial I will show you how to print your landscape designs to scale using Idea Spectrum's Realtime Landscaping or Unilock's Uvision 3D Landscape Creator.
First open the Page Setup found under the File menu.
Set your Print scale to the desired size, by default it is set to 1" = 10'.
The Drawing Size is the paper size you will be printing your project to, or the size you want your project. Most home printers print 8.5 x 11, so I will set my Drawing size as such.
The Print scale and Drawing size will calculate to create your Lot size. However, if you know the size of your lot and desire you may set the Lot size as desired. Please note, this will change your Drawing size.
The Lot Size is the grid in your project. Anything that is within the grid (even if there is nothing) will print.
Select the Use print scale option.
This is the only option that will print your landscape design to scale.
The area to the right of the Print Output is the preview of your print.
The green represents your project, while the white represents the amount paper that will not be printed to.
If you need to change the paper size of your printer, click the Printer button.
Click the Size to select your paper size. Once you are finished click OK.
If you desire to print your project at a print shop, save your design as a PDF. This is the only option that will export your project to scale. To do this, click the File menu, select Export Plan/Top Down to File, and set the Save as type to PDF.
